Kia’s 2025 EV3 marks a significant step in the evolution of compact electric vehicles, blending affordability, practicality, and modern design into a compelling package. Positioned as a successor to the Soul EV, the EV3 offers a fresh perspective on electric mobility, catering to a diverse range of drivers seeking efficiency without compromising on style.

Design and Dimensions

The EV3 embraces Kia’s ‘Opposites United’ design philosophy, featuring a ‘Digital Tiger Face’ front fascia and ‘Star Map’ signature vertical lighting. Its compact dimensions—approximately 4.2 meters in length, 1.8 meters in width, and 1.6 meters in height—make it ideal for urban environments while providing ample interior space. The aerodynamic design contributes to its efficiency, boasting a low drag coefficient of 0.263.

Interior and Comfort

Inside, the EV3 offers a spacious cabin with sustainable materials, including recycled PET fabrics. The dashboard features a 12-inch instrument cluster, a 5-inch touchscreen for HVAC controls, and a 12-inch infotainment system. Additional amenities include a 12-inch head-up display, a sliding table, and a ‘fold-back relaxation mode’ for the front seats, enhancing comfort during longer journeys. The vehicle also offers a 460-liter boot space with a two-tier floor and a 25-liter front trunk, providing ample storage options.

Performance and Range

The EV3 is available with two battery options: a 58.3 kWh battery offering a range of up to 435 km and an 81.4 kWh long-range battery providing up to 600 km on a single charge. Powering the vehicle is a 150 kW electric motor delivering 201 bhp and 283 Nm of torque, enabling acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds and a top speed of 169 km/h. The EV3 features a 400V architecture, allowing for DC fast charging at up to 128 kW, achieving an 80% charge in approximately 30 minutes.

Technology and Features

The EV3 is equipped with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), including Electric Dynamic Torque Vectoring Control (eDTVC), Digital Key 2.0, Remote Smart Parking Assist, and i-Pedal 3.0 regenerative braking. The vehicle also offers bi-directional charging capabilities, enabling it to power external devices. Connectivity features include a comprehensive app for remote vehicle management, enhancing convenience for users.

Pricing and Availability

In the UK, the EV3 is priced from £32,995, with the Long Range GT-Line model available for £39,495. In Europe, prices start from €36,790. The EV3 is manufactured in South Korea and is available in various markets, including Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. Kia aims to sell around 60,000 units annually of the EV3 in Europe.

Conclusion

The Kia EV3 stands out as a well-rounded electric vehicle, offering impressive range, advanced technology, and a comfortable interior at a competitive price point. Its blend of practicality and modern design makes it an attractive option for those seeking an efficient and stylish compact electric SUV. With its comprehensive features and affordability, the EV3 is poised to make a significant impact in the electric vehicle market.
